Who We Are
Welcome to Take the Challenge's missions family!
Take the Challenge equips pastors and Christian leaders to make disciples who make disciples. Today that work is active in more than ten nations, with over a thousand disciples meeting weekly and indigenous national directors leading self-propagating movements in Kenya and the Philippines.
It began with one bi-vocational pastor and a call to world missions:
It was in 2003, after pastoring bi-vocationally for several years, that God called our founder, Scott Roberts, to world missions. He founded Mission China, and while working as a software development consultant, Scott took over 20 short-term overseas trips from 2003 to 2015.
In 2012, the ministry name was rebranded to Take the Challenge to reflect the opportunities the Lord was opening worldwide. In 2016, God called Scott to pursue full-time missions. In 2019, the ministry’s focus was refined to raising disciple-makers. And, in 2024, Scott's most recent book, Raising Disciple-Makers, was released.
