Dear All,
Monday’s Bottom Line:
Scott is now in K and has attended the Monday sessions of the pastors' conference. He is scheduled to speak there Tuesday night and is fighting cold symptoms.
Monday’s Prayer Requests:
- Total healing for Scott; runny nose and sore throat to end now.
- God’s direction on what to present to the pastors Tuesday evening. Scott to connect well with the audience and be relaxed and comfortable as he speaks (around 7:00 A.M. Tuesday MO time).
- Great conversations throughout the week with individual pastors who have a heart for discipling believers and have been looking for tools to help them do that.
Monday’s Details:
Everything doesn’t always go according to plan. Scott rode from Kathmandu to K, the city where the pastors conference would be starting “after lunch,” in an SUV with three other pastors plus the wife of one of them. Pastor Ganga [“GAHNG-guh”] was driving, and when Scott called me, the conversation in the car was loud and lively.
Scott explained, “Our driver, Pastor Ganga, was saved in Nepal in 1994. In 2002 he left Nepal to go to Qatar as a missionary to all the Nepali workers there. A great revival occurred, and in just 6 years the number of Nepali believers in Qatar grew from 400 to 1200! After this, the Qatari government canceled the visas of so many missionaries like Ganga.”
Pastor Ganga [below, right] assured me that he drives very safely and he would take good care of Scott.

On the road with Pastor Ganga and crew.
That was good to know. The roads must’ve been rather treacherous because the 83-mile drive from Kathmandu to K was expected to take “about four hours, yes,” although Google estimated 2.5 hours…?
Anyway, Scott said, “We left at 6:30 AM for the ‘3 to 4 hour drive’ to K. It is now 12:15 PM and, praise God, we are driving up the ‘driveway’ to the resort, which makes the road to Mt. Nebo feel like a super highway.” [That reference is to a camping area on a flat-topped mountain in Arkansas; the narrow, two-lane road to get up there involves a series of many 10 mph hairpin turns.]
“Praise God I will soon be able to get out of this vehicle!” And then, “I am fighting some cold symptoms, but expecting to be well after a bowl of soup and some rest.”
Scott also sent these pictures, saying, “We are traveling on a road that was impacted by the great flood. The road [we are driving on] was underwater then. The water in this picture is 30+ feet below us, yet it came up over the road!” Note that they drive on the left in Nepal.

Just imagine what a torrent that must have been!

This bridge beside the road we are on was washed away!
Thank you all for taking time to pray for Scott’s health and a great session with the pastors at the conference. We both really appreciate you!
Blessings,
Patty
