Greetings from your Take the Challenge Team!
First, here are our current Prayer Requests.
1. Edwin, a long-term faithful disciple-maker in India, has joined our TTC staff to assist with our graphic design and administration needs. Edwin’s mom is seriously ill and has been unable to eat for weeks due to throat cancer. Her heart is very weak (only two chambers are functioning) and the doctor said high-powered chemotherapy would likely cause her heart to stop working. She will start the first of eight weeks of low-dose chemotherapy at 11:30 PM Central time THIS EVENING, 7/15/26. Pray Psalm 118:17 for her healing; specifically for her heart function to improve and for her cancer treatments to be effective.
2. Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide the coaches who are leading new DM groups in Peru, Nigeria, Congo, and Morocco. Pray for their group members to fully embrace the various components of the process and be encouraged and energized by what each member contributes in their weekly meetings.
3. REJOICE with us in the explosive expansion of the Philippines Disciple-Makers Movement in the past two months! (Details in a future newsletter.)
And now…
In the past eight months God has enabled TTC to expand into seven new nations, including Peru, a Spanish-speaking country on the western “hump” of South America. Peru is about the size of Texas and California combined, and has a population of nearly 35 million.
Here’s an amazing story.
A believer in California named Scott – we’ll call him Scott C – had recently retired and had decided to invest his retirement years in making disciples for Jesus. Scott C’s mentor attended our TTC Disciple-Makers Seminar last year and gave him a copy of Scott Roberts’ Raising Disciple-Makers book. After the reading the RDM book, Scott C joined a DM group and has subsequently launched two more DM groups.
But wait; there’s more.
It so happens that Scott C’s church supports a missionary pastor, Wayne, who, along with his dear wife, has served in Peru for 40 YEARS! During that time, 400+ students have graduated from his Bible school, and those graduates have planted 175 churches in Peru.
Scott C told Wayne about TTC’s disciple-makers process, Wayne joined a DM group, and after experiencing the process for four weeks he said, “We need this in our (175) churches!” Wayne then gathered a number of bilingual pastors from their churches, and Scott C and Tara (another U.S.-based consulting missionary) launched that group and have been coaching it for the past 10 weeks, praise God!
And momentum is building. One of the native Spanish speakers in the group has even volunteered to translate the Pressing Toward the Mark discipleship workbooks into Spanish so she and others can have resources in their native language as they prepare to launch Spanish groups in their own churches in the coming months. Scott Roberts, Scott C, and Tara will travel to Peru to officially launch the DM movement in Peru in Spring 2027.
