Dear All, Wednesday’s Bottom Line: Scott finished his BT seminar in Arusha, Tanzania on Tuesday (see a moving testimony below), then on Wednesday traveled nearly nine hours to Kiboko, Kenya, where he is now (Wednesday night MO time) leading a 2-day Disciple-Makers seminar on Thursday and Friday, followed by a Better Together marriage seminar for ministry couples on Saturday. Wednesday’s Prayer Requests: 1. The Holy Spirit to clearly lead and minister to everyone involved in the 3-day seminar in Kiboko. 2. God to make a way for Pastor Michael and other TTC team members to develop ongoing relationships with the hotel owner in Arusha; TTC to provide Swahili PTM books for his ministry. 3. Good health for Scott and a good balance of responsibility among the various TTC team members.Wednesday’s Details: Scott said, “Today I traveled 6 hours from Arusha to Kitegala… L to R: Scott, Pastor Michael, Joyce and Hillary |
… then got out of the bus to meet James. [He and I] got into a car driven by a minister of the Kenyan Dept of the Interior and traveled 2.5 hours to Kiboko.” That’s a LOT of travel, but it’s nothing compared to what Pastor Michael is doing every week! Scott said, “I asked Pastor Michael how long he will be making the weekly trip to Babati. He said something akin to, ‘as long as it takes’ (amazing!). “Then I asked, ‘Why are you investing two days out of seven each week for these few pastors?’ “He said, ‘I really enjoy it. The people have such a great hunger. We all need to find what God has called us to do and then do it. I feel honored to be chosen by God.’ “He usually leaves around 3 PM Sunday and gets home around midnight on Monday night, having spent 20 of those 33 hours sitting in a vehicle of some kind. “Here’s another great testimony from Arusha. Pastor Uhwello was so moved by my 2nd wife story. He publicly repented to his wife about how he found he has allowed ministry to supplant his wife’s place in his heart. You can see her reaction. He said he feels this seminar is going to bring a radical transformation in his marriage.” Pastor Uhwello holding his wife’s hand while repenting“Oh, and one more cool story about Arusha… “After we had terrible service at the hotel, the owner of the hotel found out from the manager that we were missionaries. He searched out Hillary, apologized, and then invited him to his executive office and requested that Hillary pray for him. Then the owner got down on his knees and Hillary prayed for him! “He owns two hotels in Arusha and also does prison ministry. Pray that we can continue relationship with him and provide him with PTM books (in Swahili) for his ministry.” And then Scott said, “We had a planning session for the 3 days of meetings in Kiboko. Everything is in order and we are expecting to launch two new DM groups from the RDM seminar.” Let me tell you how significant this is: Scott asked me if I remembered a story he’d told me months ago, about how James had gone to certain place to meet with three groups of pastors about getting a Disciple-Makers group started there. And how it did not look promising because these pastors were members of three different ministerial groups that for whatever [petty?] reasons had not been willing to work together for three years. But when James explained from the scriptures the importance of raising disciple-makers, they came together and repented for their divisive attitudes. Wow! Scott said, “That story was about Kiboko! These are the pastors in Kiboko, and they are now working together to host this 3-day seminar!” As the saying goes, “If that doesn’t light your fire, your wood’s wet!” = ) Be encouraged, and would you please pray for our team again today? Thank you! Blessings, Patty |
